Well, we all know they suck, but they’ve got a good service in my area, and 99.9% of the people i call (my wife) have verizon, so… verizon it is… (She had it before we got married her entire family has it… just worked out..) Anyway..

I got a razr a couple months ago for my birthday, as my old phone wasn’t very sweet… I bought it from ebay, and it worked flawlessly… After owning the phone i hacked it all up with the alltel firmware and made it work like it was supposed to… And it’s fantastic.

So, July 11th i was up for my new phone though the new everytwo… sweet.  So, i went there today, and i just wanted the new phone, another razr, to give to my wife.. her phone has been droping calls a lot, so it was a good set up.

Verizon told me, i didn’t own my phone.  I can’t walk in, get a free everytwo phone, and walk out. I have to activate it to my account.  Further more, they won’t let me switch back to my old phone and then give the phone to my wife.

Fun Stuff… Hopefully i can figure out a work around.  I like my phone. Plus hers is the new silver one, and i like the grey better!

i don’t have a clue why i want to live off the grid.

I think, it’s because i want to be a lumber jack.   The idea to me is not about energy usage, renewable resources and things of that nature… to me, it’s about having a house smack dead in the middle of BFE.  Two track roads, lots of trees, that’s my ideal homeland.

A nice 40+ Acre plot, perhaps more… and a log home, perhaps even a straw bail house… either way really… Why?  It’s not about the natural aspects of it, i think it’s more the novelty. I do like to be different and try things apart from the normal.  That’s really all it comes down to.  I, unforunately, could care less about the energy problems etc. I love big SUV’s and pick ups. I don’t care that our truck gets almost the worst gas rating from fullsize trucks currently… It’s what i like, so we do it.   No, to me, it’s about living where i want to, and not having to pay 5.2 million dollars to get power lines ran to my house.

So, there you have it.  You can be a tree hugger and live off the grid. Or, like me you can just be anti-social and your location dictates that you probably would have to live off the grid.

We’ll see how living off the grid will effect the operation of my welder,  plasma cutter and computer enter!   Novell huh? a Software engineer who comsumes more power at work than most houses do in a month with the machines we build… living off the grid at home…. interesting.

Been working 14 hour days for the last week.   This is the 7th day.   I am tired.  Looking forward to some sort of vacation.

Just reminds me a lot of when my dad used to work 12 hour days 7 days a week for months at a time.   I never realized how dissoriented you get.  Sure i’ve only been doing it for 7 days, but honestly when i wake up i have no idea what day it is.  I don’t have time to mow my lawn… last night I got home about 9:00pm and mowed as much as i could before it got dark.

Hopefully we get enough done today so i can take a few days off.  Feeling pretty burnt out.
